Former President John Dramani Mahama has pushed Academic City University College to take further possibilities to strengthen and promote STEAM education for the growth of the country.
The Former President emphasized the importance of STEAM education as the Keynote Speaker at Academic City’s 2023 Graduation Ceremony, recognizing its potential to provide a holistic approach to education. He emphasized the significance of breaking down old silos and developing cross-disciplinary knowledge and abilities.
He remarked that without quality education, our country’s natural resources, including as land, sea, minerals, and forests, would go underused, underutilized, or misused, resulting in serious environmental and socioeconomic implications that would stymie the country’s progress.
He exhorted graduates to resist the unhealthy temptation of exploiting leadership positions to advance personal or partisan interests at the expense of the nation or organization they were chosen to serve.
“You should also not use your leadership positions to victimize and settle personal scores,” he added, “but to unite and develop our country.”
“Do not join these self-centered leadership models,” he added, “but I expect you to provide leadership that will strengthen the public service, promote competent-based staff engagement, and strengthen systems in both the public and private sectors.”
